Humanity’s expulsion from Paradise came with the knowledge of good and evil and the gift of free will. In Eden we served without choice; on earth we gained the freedom to choose what is right.
This work explores that liberty: the right to love, create, travel and express ourselves without fear. Its absence, from overt oppression to subtle constraints, lies at the heart of the piece.
The Four Rivers of Eden captures the mystical moment when Eden leaves the physical realm and becomes spiritual. Each dragon represents one of the four rivers Pishon, Gihon, Hiddekel (Tigris) and Perat (Euphrates). As the rivers fracture and diverge, they mark the boundary between lost paradise and our world of choice and consequence.
