What happens when the last sheep is gone? Here, the village elder needs to make a decision. There are no sheep left to feed the hungry Dragon, instead a new food source must be found. Questioning the role of climate, monocultural cropping and how mythical and extinct creatures overlap in this painting. Inspired by the composition of Rembrandt's The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp, here the composition is simplified and colours bold. In the background a symbol of the village and of those most impacted waits in the doorway, a woman with a child in her arms. A dragon curls through the painting, alluding to the reason for the decision to be taken.
