Meet Me at the Surface

Meeting where the two worlds collide, the sea dragon and the air dragon catch a moment together. In mythology the dragon was split from it's mate, one banished to the sea to become Leviathan, the other a perpetual land dweller. In dividing the two lovers their fate is sealed, the path to extinction begins. Here at the surface feathers and fins can once again briefly touch, remembering the possible. The painting is a commentary on love and otherness, it speaks to the pain of attempting to communicate when the ocean and sky stand between understanding.
