Hera, goddess and Queen has an orchard of golden apples. Guarding the precious fruit is the dragon-serpent Ladon, tending to the orchard the seven Hespirides, In this painting they are imagined as versions of one another, symbiotic with themselves and their dragon. Created using a limited 5 colour palette and long straight brush strokes to allude to the trees, the golden orbs of the apples float among them.
