What price does a princess pay for her crown? For Andromeda it seems a high one, chained to rocks and facing certain death. The dragon here has its own tiara, playing again on the similar positions of the women and the monsters in the folklore canon. As I worked on the three images of Andromeda in the cavern, merging elements from each of these small pieces became compositional studies for a larger painting. Experiments in using colour and form to say more with less.
